On one hand, The Croup is the name for a particularly nasty cough that children get characterized by a loud, barking, seal-like sound. This Croup is a band made up of Jason Gambrell and Casey Brandt, and it sounds like indie folk with a dash of punk, and some bluegrass flourish thrown in for good measure. It's hard to believe that you're listening to only two guys making the music on this album. There are so many instruments and so many layers, it's a tribute to the fine mixing by Chris Faulkner. There's a feeling you get from an album done for the love of music, this is the spice that makes The Croup's sound so sweet.
