I generally find that live albums spoil you and make you generally unable to revisit an a particular song on that artists studio produced disc. Fortunately I can't really picture hearing Kevin Ayers play any other way but live, he sounds like he should be playing at some out of the way club for serious music folks or in a tent at an outdoor music festival, something like that. You can't quite call Ayers' music folk. You almost want to call it jazz but you can't really call it that either. However you want to label it the music of Kevin Ayers is pure delight, laid back and relaxed. Ayers has been making music for a long time now, so in his mind he doesn't need to impress with any kind of musical extravagance. Sometimes it really is the simple things that can give you the most pleasure.
