The lethal combination of Stereo Society's Betty, Kit Hain and Sarah Jane Morris produces another winning disc in Sprawl. The album combines songs that are dance one minute and gothic rock the next, the album is strung together on the artists' fondness for synth-sounds and groovy beats. Much of the music is original, both in the sense that it hasn't been recorded before and in the sense that the music itself is probably unlike anything you ordinarily hear. There is a cover of the Sex Pistols tune "Pretty Vacant" that is intriguing in both the way it's spun by Thorne, and for the way one can imagine a punk fans reaction to the cover. (Ever seen an Itchy and Scratchy cartoon.)
