After hearing Betty's unconventional Christmas album Snowbiz, I was quite egger to hear more from them. Carnival is as snappy and enjoyable as Snowbiz, the theme this time is the carnival sideshow, the perfect front from which to launch a few of their introspective songs about life and love. The lyrics are heart felt, but the music dresses them up with a wonderful melodic mixture of pop, rock and jazz, add to that some occasional disco influences and you've got one of the most unique sounds in modern music. Betty is a joy to listen to, and every do often they're also poignant. A funky little collection of songs, that gets you every time.
