The Contessa's Party is a wonderful collection of musicians, including Sarah Jane Morris, Betty and Kit Hain, who have come together to create an eight track alum of fantastic, original dance music. The first song, "Grandma's Goodbye", is an incredibly enjoyable, salsa-influenced number by Morris. It's followed up by Betty's "Can Catch", which highlights that band's sense of fun, and genre-bending whimsy. "Dirty City" by Hain follows in the example of the first too tracks with blazing horns and southern flavoured music. This is real dance music; no pops or computers or sampling. It's got a beat and you can, and probably will, dance to it.
