A Missouri-based punk band with grunge-like angst is what you get with Media Dropout's new album Muddled. These guys are solid, I can clearly see them go to bigger and better things as they go on; they're Sum 41 sans the whimsy or Simple Plan with actual musical ability and songwriting skill. There are occasions where it seems as if the band is trying to hard to provoke, the song "Sifin" contained a few rather juvenile lyrics. But then for a song like "Celebrity Whore" Media Dropout gets hilariously subversive. In short: Media Dropout has got the skills, they can write a song and play it well. This album should lay the groundwork for better things to come.
