Two man band Winterlong, made up of Thorbjorn Englund on all guitars, Bass, Vocals, Keys; and Leif Eriksson on drums, has been called a neo-classic, power metal band - I think that's supposed to mean they're good. And they are good, terribly loud in places but otherwise enjoyable. Winterlong rocks hard, but with great skill. Listening to the album, you periodically have to remind yourself that there are only two guys playing instruments, and that one guy is playing three of them. Te song title makes you think that the content will be filled with tried and true Goth rock staples with the likes of "Go To Hell", "On A Demon's Night" and "The Touch of Evil". But Winterlong plays against type with long instrumental solos and by defying power metal conventions. An interesting album, assuming you can withstand the decibels.
