While Leigh Marble may be folk-influenced this is not your father's folk singer. Some may want to call Marble's debut effort Emo, but I think I respect the man too much as an artist to weigh him down with that kind of negative brand. Let's just say that if Beck can make it on Top 40 radio, then there should be a place for Marble there as well. He's endless inventive with his songwriting and arrangement, he's a one man band as he played all the instruments and mixed the album himself. He's the living embodiment of the rejuvenated D-I-Y spirit in modern musicians. Never forget though that this is about the music, an Marble's ample talent should ensure future discs from this amazing musician.
