I've listened to some bands that are hard to pigeon hole, but Blame Game takes the matter of trying to describe a band's sound into a whole other realm of adjectives. Starting off being light and jazzy the album stands as a fine example of the loose fit forms and arrangements of modern improvised music. There's the seductive allure of a finely played saxophone right before the hammer's dropped on a thunderous guitar riff complimented by the beat of the drum set played by saxophonist Alex Lambert. Like much improvised music there are always those parts where it seems like the band is thinking, "where do we go next?" but regardless, when it works, it really works. Certainly an aptly titled album in any case.
