Like all good New Wave, Whitestar comes straight out of the UK, but to strictly call this album New Wave would neither be accurate nor doing the group justice. This sample from the album Pillar of Society features the titular track and “After the Carnival,” if these are indications of how the rest of the album plays out, it should be a very impressive disc. Whitestars musical ancestors include The Smiths, The Cure and Joy Division-but there's an element of alternative to their sound, a little more restrait in the guitar riffs and percussions is evident. It's very easy to picture Whitestar playing in a pub or other sort of small venue, no complications, just good music to tap your toes by.
