With an album name like Bulletproof Benny Takes on the Yuppie Brigade, you better be hardcore, fortunately the Nicaea Room is HARDCORE. Somehow I doubt that I'm the Nicaea Room's target audience for their music, so I'll try to muddle through a review of the music for this (surprisingly) New Hampshire-based band. The first track, "Billion and a Half in Dreams," was an earsplitting wall of sound that left me holding on for dear life. The second track, "Sleeping with the Piranhas," took things down a notch or six, enough for to appreciate that there was more to this band than volume. The rest of the five song album continued to demonstrate this ying-yang effect. Death metal fans take note-this is the new stuff. Everyone else-bring your ear plugs.
