This sophomore disc from the Atlanta-based dance duo is a collection of twelve delightful little house numbers with a melodic, down tempo beat. This disc was co-produced by Lenny B, who’s worked with such other dance/pop luminaries as Gwen Stefani and Natasha Bedingfield, so you know that the disc is solid production-wise. Comparisons have been made to Madonna’s last effort Confessions on a Dance Floor, which is apt in my estimation. Madison Park cites influences as varied as Everything But The Girl, Kate Bush and Roxy Music and they can all be heard in one degree to another on the record; particularly the Bush-like vocal inflections of DeAnna Cool. The lead single “I’m Listening” tells you everything you need to know about what all lies on the album: 90s inspired beats mixed into the pleasant-sounding pop vocals. Some rhythms are deeper than others and you do get a couple of slow jams as well, but if you remember Nikki French at all, then Madison Park will have a familiar ring to it. Still, there’s comfort in familiarity and while this music isn’t blazing any new trails it’s at least very good at what it delivers.
