The disc starts off with the caw of a murder of crows creating an ominous vibe meant to say to the listener that there’s death and decay nearby. There’s death and decay all right, but the subject of the decomposition is my sense of hearing after listening to Behemoth. I try to keep an open mind with these things, especially given the fact that I am not a metal guy and sometimes I’m pleasantly surprised – but meet the breaking point. I give the band credit; I think that there are some talented musicians here, especially the guitarist. But the vocals by Nergal wore on me very quickly; most people are only exaggerating when they say death metal lyrics are indecipherable. I give Behemoth extra points for giving their music more than volume, but this is not the album for death metal neophytes to bridge the gap.
