Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Cranston Foundation lay down their original punk-rock skaggae sound on their latest release, Communication. The recipe seems to be something like a cup of Sublime with a dash of the Police and one large dosage of Linkin Park (or P.O.D, depending on your preference.) It's been a while since I've heard something like this—that is, if I've ever heard something exactly like this. Some of the tracks are thoroughly hard and intense, while others mix chill verse with a traditional reggae sort of feel—or at least a variation on the traditional—with a heavier refrain. When a band can translate their energy to disc the way Cranston Foundation does on Communication, I can only imagine what they'd be like live. With feet planted in Alberta and an ear to Jamaica, I'm sure this isn't the last we'll hear from Cranston Foundation.
Cranston Foundation is Jack Abad-drums, Alex Black-vocals, Amos Bradley-guitar, Jeremy Dow-bass, and MC Rick Polson.
