Saying that something is post-industrial doesn't always give the music novice a clear idea of what exactly an album sounds like. So picture in your mind's ear a string section of an orchestra; mixed into that is sound effects of hammer strikes and static and then come the notes of a synth putting on another level of beats. Confused yet? So was I as I listened to the first five minutes of Des Esseintes' album, but it was a good confused; like, I can't wait to hear where they are going with this. The first two tracks "Muse" and "Succubus" are very similar in tone and style, but track three, entitled "King of the Jungle", is an intense little burst of animal ferocity, complete with growling sounds and jungle drum beats. I admire the experimentation and the raw sound of the music, expertly preserving the richness of the original vinyl recording. Not for everyone's taste, but well worth considering.
