Go to Unit's page on MySpace and you'll find a mind-boggling list of musicians that have influenced their music. Just about anyone who's been anyone in the last several century is there, including a few names that are really old school, from Mozart to N*E*R*D. Now call me crazy, but I think that you can really hear all those influences in Sleepless, all woven together with some sort of magical musical thread. For once technology is advantageous, allowing Unit to create something that sounds new and familiar at the same time. (I could have sworn I heard the chord progression of Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper" in the opening of "Lover's Mesh".) There's funk, new wave, folk, even hip hop—all dressed up in an electronic overcoat. Bravo.
