The quartet of 5th Projekt has been in the consciousness of music fans in and around southern Ontario for so long, it’s hard to believe that this is their first LP. Their demo, Tales of Don Quixote, has made the rounds and it is a severely enjoyable disc, but Circadian fleshes everything out and creates a fuller, more complete sound. Like Don Quixote, the band blurs the lines between sounds and styles—sometimes folksy, sometimes electronic but always with a distinct signature that says “5th Projekt was here.” An album absolutely dizzying for its sheer versatility and ability to lead your ear to strange new places... I just wish they had kept the wacky packaging of Don Quixote.
