Don’t go looking for someone named “Linda Amiga” on this album—there’s no such person. Well, I suppose there could be a real Linda Amiga somewhere, I guess, just not on this record. Matters of clarification (or being silly) aside, this album from the Edery Ensemble is split into two easily recognizable parts: the Sephardim and the Renaissance Spain. So what’s the difference? Not much actually except that I’d say the string instruments are a little more pronounced in the Renaissance music. Maybe there’s something to that. Edery won the Sephardic Heritage Award for this album, and it’s easy to understand why. He is a master of the sound and space, arrangement and pacing. You may not know anything about the music, but you can appreciate the artistry.
