Jason Nesmith may be descended from “Monkees”, but you wouldn’t know it by listening to him that he’s the son of Mike Nesmith, the lead guitarist for that legendary 60s band. This Nesmith seems to like playing back and forth with a distinctly non-Monkees vibe; he plays with the folksy rock of Dylan some of the time only to go for the mystic balladry of Zeppelin for much of the rest. Considering such heady comparisons, it should come as no surprise that the album is driven by the artistry of each song taken as an individual piece of music: each track is different, yet all are connected through the ethereal voice of Nesmith. Recommended for those that like good, solid, well-made band music.
