Call Tim Lee what you want—southern rock, alt-country, whatever, because no matter the labels, I think his album is admirable for the fact that it’s solid musicianship. The thing of it is the music is actually combining the very best of southern-genre influences and turning them into an excellent bit of stage-rock flare. I think that Tim Lee and his associates are a garage band gone big time: sort of like Sloan or Sam Roberts, the kind of band that looks more in place at the back of smoky bars than on a stage in front of an arena full of people. Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course. I’m just saying that there’s a kind of intimacy to the music and that it sounds familiar like an old friend.
