I’m not sure how the music of the Cookie Cutter Girl correlates with the whole superhero motif she’s got going on with the cover art, but I have to say that Cookie Cutter Girl isn’t a very frightening nom du plu to strike fear into the hearts of criminals. Maybe I’m avoiding the topic at hand, or maybe I’m circling the issue we’ve come to discuss—the music. The date stamp on the album may say one thing, but the music on this disc definitely reaches back to the women-empowerment rock of the early to mid-90s. Hardly original ground to be in, but I will say that the music is well produced and catchy enough to make you feel like you’re not wasting your time. Perhaps worth a listen if you’re missing that 90s pop sound in the face of the New Wave revival...
