Kiara Hunter might possibly be to Canada what Kylie Minogue is to Australia. A petite powerhouse who combines an air of grace with a smoldering sex appeal; she doesn't go too far, just shows a little leg here and there. This is a great image, and has taken many other performers far up the ladder of success. Kiara’s debut album is but the start of an already long career. She has acted in film and TV, done pageants, been a cheerleader, and a Miss Fitness silver medalist; yeah she is the girl you hated in high school because she upped the anti so much!



Seriously though, Kiara Hunter seems to be an incredibly hard worker at everything she does, committing herself to every aspect of the process, or her latest endeavor. Even when she sends in the album it is signed, with a full colour photo (also signed) to go along with it.



As for the music, it sounds like a cross between Ciara at times and those 1980s ‘powerful woman’ pop ballads. Sometimes a little R&B is thrown in for good measure, but overall the music feels a little outdated. In fact the CD cover and the blue velvet one-piece jumpsuit she wears in the back of the CD also seems outdated. Imagine my surprise when I saw a stunning and elegant long haired brunette on the main page of her website (www.kiarahunter.com), a far cry from the short haired nymphet. She does have a majority of positive songs that reinforce the desire to get what you want out of life, which to is a fitting theme for the music as that seems to be her general approach.



Plainly put, I believe Kiara Hunter has great appeal. She has a better vocal range than Ciara and has enough determination to make a success of her musical career. I suspect that Kiara’s image on We Can Play needs updating to the classy brunette image she has on her website in order for her to go further in music. Also, I suspect if Kiara wants to be taken seriously, she will have to avoid putting up the ‘VIP’ section on her website.
