I have always been a fan of Canadian indie music and I tend to spend my time digging my way through the internet, searching for new artists to indulge in. And although I am not a huge fan of contemporary music, Amy Millan has a way of drawing in the listener and mesmerizing them with very peaceful music.
The album, Masters of the Burial was released this past September, and I first read about this album in one of my favourite fashion magazines along with a couple other albums and thought I would go out and pick it up because it sounded like something I would thoroughly enjoy. It was not at all what I expected tough and I was not entirely disappointed. Millan has a way of making you comfortable.
The album reminded me a bit of Norah Jones with her soft and subtle vocals and gentle guitar riffs. The record is a basically adult contemporary with a subtle country vibe. Millan has beautiful vocals and definitely knows how to use them. She even covers one of Death Cab for Cuties songs, “I Will Follow You Into the Dark” and makes it her own.
