I'll admit I was beyond unsure of what to expect by the cover of gROUSe's We Want To Be Loved. A baby's huge blue eye stares out at you from the front, while a heart-shaped pin cushion holds the track-listing on the back. But we all know the old adage, and I'm sure the same goes for CDs, so into the discman it went. Now I'm normally not a huge advocate for electronic music, but I do find myself enjoying this genre more and more when it's warmed up a bit. For instance, the mellow guitar, dreamy vocals, and music box “ping” on “Lies On Me” make for an extremely welcoming listening experience. Makoto Miyashita's voice on “Twisted”, reading in (I'm guessing) Japanese, adds something I have not heard in recent releases. There are a few unsettling experimentations on We Want To Be Loved, but for the most part, this is one electronic album you can safely reach for when looking to get into a chill headspace.
