D.O.A.'s Bloodied But Unbowed (The Damage To Date: 1978-84) is a reissued collection of 19 songs taken from their out of print albums, Something Better Change and Hardcore 81. The inside of the album cover reads: “On this record you'll find the spirit of resistance, humour, hardcore energy and no small amount of agony and bitterness towards the insanity of the way things are. These songs speak for themselves.” And that's exactly the message D.O.A.'s music has always contained—“Talk minus Action equals Zero. Use your brain, think for yourself, speak out, take action or let the Silence bury you alive.” At the time, the band line-up consisted of Joey “Shithead” Keithley (guitar and vocals), Dave Gregg (guitar and vocals), Chuck Biscuits (drums and vocals), and Randy Rampage (bass and vocals)—and also included performances by Brian Goble (bass and vocals), Dimwit – Rest In Peace (drums), Simon “Stubby Pecker” Wilde – Rest In Peace (bass), and Tracy Marks (piano). If you're not already familiar with D.O.A, this might give you an idea of what to expect: the song “I Don't Give A Shit” includes a refrain composed solely of burps. These guys may be rude, but they're relentless, and unapologetic—a must hear for the hardcore activist.
