David Gogo's blues roots shine through in his acoustic version of the Robert Johnson classic “Dust My Broom.” The familiarity of the raw authentic tune and its history hooks and warms up an ol' blues lover. The album is an enjoyably frustrating blend of polished vocals and authentic blues sound. Comparatively, Gogo seems to lack the soul and lyrical content that makes blues blues. The vocals are too polished and country for an authentic groove and the instruments are too blues to be categorized as country. But just when this alone is enough to put you off, a song like “That's How Strong My Love Is”, re-captivates the harmonious, soulful combination of the guitar and harmonica.
