The best comparison that can be drawn from You Me at Six’s first full-length album, Take off your Colours, is something that echoes “Cross My Heart” by Marianas Trench or maybe even “I’d do Anything,” by Simple Plan.

These English boys from Weybridge, Surrey, are quickly topping the UK Charts with their fierce and passionate jams. Take off your Colours entered the UK Charts at #25 the first week it was dropped.

The opening track on their debut album, “The Truth is A Terrible Thing,” kick starts the 19-song compilation with heavy electric guitar, soon to be drowned out by an angry broken-hearted lead singer.

These heated words are also quite catchy. “Save it for the Bedroom,” a re-released track for the band, is actually pretty fetching. The chorus: “With you by my side/That look your eye/I hope you know…Save it for, save it for the bedroom,” is an enjoyable song to head-bang along with and soon you will be humming it in the shower.

Take off your Colours – despite their disheartened lyricism – is an entertaining and memorable mix of tunes. Already assembling a massive following in Europe, I don’t suspect it will take long before these Brits are showcasing their colours for a North American audience on Ryan Seacrest’s Top 40.
