Recently released, The Perm’s catchy new album makes it’s way to merch tables at live shows, music stores, and the like. This is the bands forth album and it proves that they are getting better at mastering the unique touch to their music. Keeps You Up When You’re Down is the name of the album, and I think the title speaks for itself. The indypop rock powerrock sound that The Perms trio gives out makes one want to tap their foot, bop their head and sometimes even dance up a storm.
This talented trio has a knack for giving birth to songs that stick with you. For example, I found myself humming “The Mess” soon after turning off the album. They find a melody and seem to craft the song around it rather than simply finding a riff, which is most unusual for musicians.
Having been brought up into the beautiful and wondrous world of music with bands such as The Beatles, Chicago, The Beach Boys, Queen, and Weezer, the Perms are mastering a sound that is uniquely theirs and can be compared to Weezer, Sloan, or even The Fratellis.
