Released October 28th last year, this Edmonton based rockabilly band takes us back to the music of the 1960s and definitely stands out from the crowd. Aside from the norm, this foot stomping, butt shaking, swing dancing band makes you move at a constant motion and does not let you take a moment to stop and breathe. Along side the vocals, drums, guitar and upright bass this band has also added both a trumpet and trombone, giving the rockabilly sound that little extra edginess. The Cowboys have a definable sense of humor with some of their songs such as Since you’ve been Gone, and Devil’s Son. And, of course, who can have a rockabilly band such as this without drinking song, For the Wisky, which many will agree is something that every rockabilly album should have in order to make it a true and complete rockabilly compolation.
The Raygun Cowboys consists of Jon Christopherson on vocals, guitar and acoustic, Oakland Valleau on vocals and upright bass, Derek Thieson on vocals and drums, Mike Johnson on trumpet, Nate Connelly on trombone, and Pete Turland on acoustic and slide guitar.
From April up until September The Raygun Cowboys are touring all over Canada including The Casbah here in Hamilton on July 7th and then the Bovine sex club in Toronto on July 9th.
