Boy Bands: They are the Dodo of the music world.  They really ought to stay that way, too.

The Script is a trio brave (oblivious) enough to be a Boy Band 10+ years after the explosion (and subsequent collapse) of Backstreet Boys.  Oh, and their Irish.  It's confusing.

But what's really left to say about these type of tear-jerker albums reliant on the emotions and pocket-change of adolescent girls the world over?  Great vocal control.  Pop rhythms are semi-catchy.  There's a prerequisite inclusion of a hip-hop-type rhyme delivery.  Hang on - disc just ended...

... Pour another cup of tea.  Skip back to the start.... Oh, crap.  That's really all there is.

Part of me really wants to give them kudos for making music in a currently unpopular genre, but the rest of me just isn't stoked enough on the sounds I'm being subjected to.  It's not that The Script are bad per se, it's just that they are not offering us anything O-Town (remember them?) or B4-4 (Remember THEM??) haven't tried - uhm, in 1999, perhaps?

According to their press release, they sound like "U2 versus Timbaland, Van Morrison remixed by Teddy Riley".  I would scratch those out and replace them with "Boyzone".  Yep, just "Boyzone".

Track Listing:

1) We Cry
2) Before The Worst
3) The Man Who Can't Be Moved
4) Breakeven
