Serj Tankian is the main vocalist from the band System of a Down and this is his first solo project. Musically this album is a stunning four-star album, however for this being his solo project, it sounds far too similar to his band and for that I would give it three-stars. Even some of the guitar riffs are an exact replica of a few System of the Down riffs. Solo albums should be different than the artist’s band, and should stand out from the band, but Tankian must feel otherwise. Released last October, Tankian has truly put his all into this album, playing everything from guitars to bass, piano, synthesizers, drums, bells and, of course, the vocals. Overall, if you are a fan of System of the Down’s stuff, you’ll be a fan of Tankian’s solo album, but don’t be too critical when listening like myself, just take the music and lyrics in, because it truly is a great album.
