Asteroid have struck upon a grungy, thick, menacing, guitar filter and have used and re-used to to a deadening effect. That is, it becomes predictable and banal after the second time through the album. Coupled with some wicked power chords though, the sound is delightfully sinister. Asteroid comes across like a cross between Metallica and psychadelic 60's rock. What detracts from Asteroid's allure is the drab quality of their song-writing. The songs seem more like an excuse to pound out some heavy riffs and deep beats than to express something refreshing. Songs such as "The Great Unknown", "Panoramic Telescope", "Strange Trip", and the mundane "Doctor Smoke" exemplify this. Through this though shines some truly inspiring moments, sharply endearing to someone looking for psychadelic rock with a grimey splash of the hard stuff.

I will not waste further breath refuting statements like "it becomes predictable and banal after the second listen" or Asteroids alleged "drab-quality" quality song writing because after the Metallica analogy this review must be a joke.
