Tishamingo raises the adrenaline with their gutsy, bluesy, red-earth rock and roll. Four guys sounding like forty, Tishamingo crushes out tunes in the same vein as Lynard Skynard or the Black Keys; funky underneath, powerfully progressive over top, and raw straight ahead. As much fun as these guys are to listen to, they sound like they are paying homage to the past which is unfortunate because these guys craft some of the best gritty, grimy, red-hot Southern riffs I've ever heard, except from Lynard Skynard. What would really set these cats a-flaming would be some exceptional song-writing, because the boys of Tishamingo have got the sound nailed. No song on The Point has that quality where once the opening riff or drum beat plays you know just what's coming next, and it's just what you want. It may be a little much to ask of Tishamingo to craft the next "Hotel California" or "Sweet Home Alabama" simply because the times don't call for it, but that's just what will make Tishamingo stand beside their peers in time.
