I can't help feeling excited about someone like Louis Ledford, there just aren't too many like him anymore. Was there ever? Well, he's a dying breed. A rare sort of songwriter and singer who takes his time to carefully craft his songs around honest experiences and embody unsung heros of the everyday. His voice is very thick and misty. Moments he comes across as either Tom Petty, Ramblin' Jack, or John Prine. His guitar playing is also down to earth and very telling of his convictions. It may take some time for the music and words to really affect you, but they will, if you give them time. You may be walking down the street when the words to "Treebranch and Moonlight" become clear as moonlight. Louis also has that dry and open feeling that I found Bob Dylan had when I first heard him; it kind of makes you uncomfortable, but it's just asking you to step outside of yourself. Maybe this isn't going to change the world or have that meteoric like impact Dylan had, but Louis sounds strong and is maturing every day. His practice of sitting around a circle sharing songs is what we want. We're just waiting to hear what you have to say Louis.
