"Born in strife-torn Ireland, raised under Apartheid in South Africa, and finally arriving in Thornhill, Ontario" you might think Kiran would be a torch-bearer for good causes and social criticism, but instead he delivers diluted Rhythm and Blues. The stand-out track on this album is Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On", but what Kiran does with this popular classic is deliver it plainly and too musically; nearly washing away it's protest. The production is flawless, the instrumentation is immaculate, the mixing is masterful, but the delivery from Kiran as a singer is un-inspired. It just isn't enough to sing "What's Going On?" you need to ask what's going on? Kiran sounds as if he's still listening to his own voice, unable to give in to conviction, intensity, and humiliation. However, he does seem capable, considering he composes and arranges even the most banal love song with class. The allure of the album is Kiran's honest drive to create a beautiful-sounding record. His downfall though is both his singing and song-writing.
