Mob's Polygon is a brooding, angsty, pop-hardcore rock album which limits itself attempting a cross-over success. The Denmark act consists of vocalist and guitarist Morten Haaber, guitarist Peter Ahlers, bass-guitarist Kasper Skov, and drummer Gustav Sandegaard. Together they create a steam engine of heavy dark musical bodies, floating between metal and pop. What detracts from their quality though is the song writing. As barely audible as the words might be, they don't contain the music that is inherent in there native tongue; instead Haaber talks about dreams, failure, and desperation in rather boring english. The edge just loses it's bite. Also, for a record spanning about 20 minutes (I believe it's an EP, however it's not exactly their debut) the familiarity of each song is so undeniable it renders the whole thing un-inspired. When the group peaks to an explosive climax the sound is at it's finest, however I could do without the drawn out build-up.
