Anything that begins with the airplanes screaming into the twin towers on 9/11 isn't being sincere to the moment and doesn't understand the qualities of social criticism. Clearly Blinded By Faith could only think to shock their audience rather than relate to them. Whenever I put the CD in to listen to it, I am faced once again with that moment from ground level as if I was there looking up into the skies when that moment took place. What is the purpose? How is re-creating the moment of impact of any value to the message of the album? That one clip is greater than anything the band can produce afterwards; they might as well have ten tracks of silence to mourn the dead. Blinded By Faith are blinded by the faith in themselves, and are clearly un-aware of the effect music and media can have on an audience. Some of the greatest social awareness comes unexpectedly, complex or simple. Take for example John Cage's "In The Name of the Holocaust" or Messiaen's "Quartet for the end of time", both effective through a deeper understanding of humanity rather than a reaction out of blind violence (I'm referring to the music). Weapons of Mass Distraction is itself a distraction.
