And what a year in gaming it was! First they were saying that the industry was invulnerable to the economic crisis, and then it seemed that it wasn’t. The Ghostbusters video game was supposed to come out this year, but that didn’t seem to work out either. But by popular consensus, there were a lot of great moments for gamers this year, and a lot of good reasons to look ahead with anticipation. So let’s do both.

Well, time flies, doesn’t it gang? No sooner does the year begin than it seems like it’s ending. For comics readers of all stripes, it’s been one to remember, and here to help you collect all those fine memories is the final Lucid Comics column for the year 2008.

 

With only a week to go before Christmas Day, malls are packed to the brim with anxious holiday shoppers. Judging from the foot traffic on a recent Sunday at the Eaton Centre, there are plenty of gawkers, if not many buyers, this season. As well as having to compete in an economy in the early throes of recession, retailers are also being forced to cope with shoppers who are preferring to make their purchases online.

 

Secret Invasion is over. Dark Reign is beginning. Final Crisis trudges on. And with the new year comes the promise of seeing things you never thought you’d ever see, like the Watchmen movie. But I’ll save a lot of that discussion for the New Year’s Eve Lucid Comics column. Take a break from the Holiday hustle and catch-up on your comics stuff.

Ever since The Dark Knight packed theatres last July, the one question plaguing Bat-fans is where will the franchise go from here? Christopher Nolan, meanwhile, says he’s non-committal and will wait to see if he can find a good story. Perhaps this will help. Now taking out some of the sillier members of Batman’s Rogues’ Gallery, while also sidelining the ones with obvious super-abilities, we have actually made a pretty good list of antagonising foes along with storylines and casting suggestions.
