Speaking of rock and roll, The Marble Index were at Club Absinthe in Hamilton this past Saturday and took control of their hometown crowd giving them all a taste of what they had so been missing. The band, now consisting of 4 members including the ever impressive Brad Germain on guitar and lead vocals and who is also the singer for his most recent band, Spirits, the subtle but wicked bass player Ryan Tweedle, the brilliant beat keeper Adam Knickle on drums and the newest member Dan Delaplante who is also a member of the Hamilton band In Silent Code, on guitar and backup vocals. The Marble Index has never ceased to amaze me, no matter how small or large the crowd they manage to draw in, they marvel in the rock and roll vibe and never let anything get them down.

The show started out with slight technical difficulties which seemed to arise because there was so much pressure put on the sound guy from the beginning, so it almost seemed that the sound guy was playing a joke on the band. The joys of being back home, everyone has to make specific memory of the night. With a lengthy 10 song set list including some of my favourites Dust, Daylight, We Can Make It, and many more, they took every song to the max and kept the audience moving. The band even threw in “Let’s Shake” one of the well known Teenage Head songs at the end which made the crowd roar. The very last song the boys of Marble Index played was “I Believe,” and they took this to the next level. As a closer, Germain and Knickle switched spots, Germain took charge of the drums, while Knickle ruled Germain’s guitar. They jammed to the end of the song and had the crowd going wild.
With many more shows to come and a brand new album
Watch your candles, Watch your knives on the shelves in CD stores now, they are defiantly not short of things to give for the gift giving season we all know is around the corner.
