June 11th this year Coldplay’s new album, Viva la Vida or Death and All his friends was released. Inclusive of singles Violet Hill which was released on April 29th and Viva la Vida which was released May 7th, this new album has no song in it that is not catchy and radio worthy. With no more tricks up their sleeves, Coldplay’s attempt to find new sounds and give off a new sound proves to be a huge success with this album. The group decided to experiment with different sounds by taking their recording equipment into various places such as churches or large open areas to get a bit of a different acoustic sound. The album deems to have very specific sounds and precise sounds that meld into one another, and give off a ‘we are serious’ vibe. I fell in love with the new Viva la Vida song when I first heard it when it was released, and then when the album was released I went and snatched it pronto. While the album in its entirety is only about 50 minutes total, it covers everything and more that the previous two albums cover musically speaking. This is in the opinion of this reviewer, Coldplay’s best and if you like any of Coldplay’s songs, this is one album that you won’t regret spending the money on.
