Henry Doss & Emma Rugg Tour PDF E-mail

Ever thought about having a twin? Or making the switch?

My one elementary school fantasy was to be able to switch my twin for the day and see if I could fool the teachers in my least favourite subjects receiving a well earned day off!

What better day to make the switch than on April Fool's?

I won't be the one making the switch, I'll leave that up to the twin duo of Henry Doss and Emma Rugg. April Fool's Day 2007 is the kick-off of the Direction's Tour featuring Henry Doss and our beloved Emma Rugg. The build-up has been in the works for sometime now, and the final preparations have been made, locked down and ready to go.

Although the timing of the event is nothing to laugh at as this duo certainly ain't no joke. Henry Doss, a successful business man in his own right, has begun to follow another dream.

I had an opportunity to discuss Henry's first tour, as the first gig at Jefferson Landing kicks off the tour in North Carolina.

Henry expressed to me that he believes that there is an enormous amount of creativity in running businesses of shapes and models. It may not be obviously creative but more like solving problems and building on that. Take market research for example, as it's one of the most creative things that you can imagine. How to structure a research strategy while doing business and structuring financial aspects.

I promise that I am not trying to make this feature a business 101 lesson. However the elements in creativity are there, to such an extent that it is worthy to take note and utilize all of one's former experiences to reach another goal in an entirely new field. Henry has done four recordings to date. The first were demos and the third installment entitled Remnants Of A Conversation, was a learning experience. Henry maintains that his motivation sprung from the day he walked into a music store and picked up a guitar, a Gibson Nighthawk with a Park amp. Playing an E Major chord, the chord was loud and just brought back the desire for Henry to write music again.

As it is readily perceptive to anyone that there are people born with the talents of creative genius, Henry states that he believes that anybody who listens to the need to be expressive can be an artist waiting to be born. Thursday April, 26/2007 will see The Directions Tour being directed to Traverse City Michigan, getting ever close to Canada, but not quite there yet. However Henry has expressed his desire to get here to play. Business trips have taken him several times to Canada, into the GTA (Greater Toronto Area).

Adorning the steps by Henry's side is his tour compatriot Emma Rugg on the courthouse steps of Jefferson N.C., USA. With guitars in hand there will be no busking the streets of Hull, U.K. this time for Emma, which is how she began her career. Emma has produced 2 recorded track compilations formerly with Henry Doss entitled Lonely Child and I've Been Thinking. On the solo side of things, Emma's discs are Isolated Impression and the 5-song EP Oceans/Depart. Her hard work, creativity and talent have made the long arm of her reach touch the American continent to begin a new journey much like Henry. A fish out of water, perhaps, but these fish have landed into a new pool of creative expression with streets and avenues on which to hone their craft.

A reoccurring theme that underlies all of this is the fact that both Henry and Emma are embarking on something that neither of them has done before. Their musical relationship is a direct correlation to
each of them going from business for Henry and tenaciously busking for Emma, the fact remains that this is the understanding between them.

New horizons always look beautiful but the adventure is so much more filled with the array of color that the spectrum of talent and newness await.

Well after touring the USA there is nowhere else to go but up! Next stop after there successful jaunt south of the border will hopefully be the next inspiration on the hearts of Henry and Emma.
