It’s been a long time since we said good night to the bad guys of Maritime cult TV – but all that is about to change.
With support of a worldwide fan base and two major features under their belt, our favourite trio of potty-mouth pot-growers, The Trailer Park Boys are set to launch The Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, Drunk, High and Unemployed Tour which will bring their ribald-style comedy to Canadian cities near you. Oh yes, and if you are American, then look out for some venues near you, too.
“We have a live show booked in L.A. right after our Jimmy Kimmel appearance. It’s our first performance in the United States and we’re looking forward to it,” reveals John Tremblay (Julian). “It’s very exciting, indeed.”
Musing about the experience, Tremblay adds, “We’ve written entirely new material for the show,” says Tremblay. “Rest assured there will be no bleeps. We like to keep everyone laughing and have a good time.”
Unlike the characters of Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, who the trio has played over and over again (and rarely appear in public out of character), the boys will instead play a broad range of bizarre and quirky characters and – get this – you won’t even be able to recognize them, but Wells and Tremblay feel confident that the show will resonate with fans.
“We wanted to do something unlike ever before,” says Tremblay. “We have ideas for characters that having been floating around now for about ten years. Will we use them? Perhaps. I know I’d love to, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
This time around, we can expect the denizens of Port Cockerton to embody the same unique trademark East Coast mannerisms that was in Trailer Park Boys, but to a lesser degree.
“On one hand, these [Trailer Park Boys] characters are born out of the East Coast,” says Wells. “But if you’ve ever been out in rural Canada you see these quirks everywhere, whether it’s out in British Columbia or Nova Scotia and everywhere in between. There are interesting characters wherever you go.
