Sweet sixteen and on the verge to international fame: that’s Canada’s newest punk rock chick, Shiloh.

The Canadian, born and raised, singer/songwriter first made her imprint on the Canadian music scene this year with the ska’er hit, “Operator (A Girl Like Me)” – the first track released off of her debut album,
Perfect Imperfect.
Shiloh says singing has always come naturally to her and she doesn’t remember a time in her life when she wasn’t humming a tune. “I first started singing when I started talking,” she recalls. “I just started talking and my mom was like ‘that isn’t talking that is humming!’ So, I haven’t been able to stop ever since.”
However, it was the combination of her stage presence, passion and tenacity that landed her a deal with Universal Music. Shiloh reveals the journey, although short so far, has been one crazy ride. She says she is oh-so familiar with the spotlight and after a competition out west, the singer says all the pieces to the puzzle started fitting into place.
“I’ve been doing competitions my whole life and then I did a competition in Edmonton,” she remembers. “I went to Vancouver and recorded some songs and then I met my manager!”
Since then it’s been magic, she says.
The singer describes herself as fresh, funny and original. Her music aims to promote a positive message to young girls facing adversity in society. Some of her lyrics read: “Be what you’re meant to be. Keep your convictions strong. This is your song,” (“Alright”) and “Without a doubt, I know what I’m about. I’m everything I’ll ever want to be. A girl like me” (“Operator”).
“There is a lot of stuff in there,” she explains. “There is a song in there about a friend of mine who is going through some troubles. A song about when I was going through some troubles and not knowing what I

was going to do or how I was going to get there or who I was for that matter.”
Shiloh adds that her debut album contains a mixture of genres all packed into one unique and powerful listen. She says she has been influenced from the legendary musicians like Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson, but she’s also keeping her fingers crossed in the hopes of collaborating with fellow Canadian singer, Celine Dion.
And growing up in Canada has helped mould the young artist as well, she explains. “It’s made me very chill. I find everyone in Canada is very chill. And things don’t bother me as much - you know? And we’re no as uptight as a lot of people,” she says.
Even though Shiloh has spent many years of her life battling affliction she is staying optimistic. “I had a lot of troubles in high school. I’m very opinionated and so everyone was picking on me,” she confesses.
Today, it is a different story for Shiloh. As she tours across Canada – stopping next at Whitby’s Johnny B’s – the fiercely voiced teenager is now home schooled. She says that change in her daily patterns has helped to improve her career. With
Picture Imperfect to voice all of her concerns, Shiloh is now content.
The rock n’ pop album hit shelves on August 18th and Shiloh herself will be visiting Much On Demand to promote her release, as well as touring across Ontario and Quebec in support of it. She is encouraging fans to come out and to message her on Twitter.
Next week iTunes will be offering “Alright” as the free download of the week. To listen to other sample songs or to find more information about Shiloh’s tour dates log onto
