This beautiful folk artist was a late bloomer, according to Jenn Grant.
“I started performing in front of audiences I think when I was 23,” she explains. So many artists out there tend to just want to get into things, but not this lovely lady. “I was waiting until I was ready”

Now with a couple years under her belt, Grant is living the life she has always dreamed of. “I recorded a couple records: one with CBC and one I recorded this summer at a farm in Ontario,” Grant reminisced. “I have toured in Canada Europe and the US and we are heading out on an across Canada tour on June 11th. I have a great band that I love to play with.”
Loving every moment of your musical journey is one of the most important aspects of being an artist, and Grant is doing just that. “I am so very fortunate, even sometimes when I don’t have much money I think I am very fortunate” she says. “I have a great team that I work with and I always wanted to be a singer since I was little but I was too nervous. But I am really happy that I pursued my dream and I love music as my life.”
Grant is living life to the fullest and is much looking forward to go on tour again. As for where she is now, Grant has been through a lot, but she admits that all experiences she has been through have made her who she is today “I think I needed all of those [things]” Grant said.
“The album is an analogue record that we recorded on a farm,” she explains. They basically took it back to the old days because Grant wanted the record to sound just like a classic 50s record would. “We stayed there for a couple months, [so] it’s kind of a very personal group of songs,” she says of the experience. “It’s a very organic sounding record with a lot of violin, piano, bass, clarinet; it was a very intimate recording experience. We worked really hard.”
This masterpiece is something Grant said she is very proud to have accomplished and made. A break up record, among other things, Grant explained the inspiration for this album as love, relationships and letting go, with a beautiful theme throughout.
Grant does not favour any one of the songs, as she puts it, she feels like they all are her children and does not want to pick a favourite. “I don’t listen to it much and when I do I feel like I am for the first time so I just leave it so no I don’t have any favours” Grant explained “I appreciate different things about different songs. I like to turn it up and hear the various layers. I think it needs to be turned up because it is so soft.”
