Congratulations on your cd being released worldwide! How did you go about making that happen? A couple of months ago, a label (Addictive Records) scouted us out and offered us a worldwide distribution deal through Fontana North/Universal. The more we get our music out there, the better the chances we can expand our fanbase and reach new audiences, so after some negotiations, we signed the deal and are happy to have the ability to have our music heard and purchased worldwide. How was the experience on your latest tour? It was interesting to say the least - our first time in the States so it was kinda like starting all over again - but in a good way. It was awesome to be able to expand into new territory and we look forward to going back in the future. |
Was there anyone that really motivated you with your music in taking it to this level?
Ourselves - this is something we've always wanted, and we don't have any intentions of stopping what we love doing. This is our passion as a band - what we all dreamed about as children, and come hell or high water, we are going to make it to the top.
Where can people find your cd?
Our cd is available for purchase in retailers across Canada (Sunrise, HMV, Walmart, etc), online at www.maplemusic.com, and is downloadable at www.itunes.com.
It must be a great feeling to have your cd released on such a large scale. Do you have plans to promote your cd through concerts worldwide as well?
Indeed we live for playing live so that's what we look forward to the most. As I mentioned we just completed our first ever US tour, we also once again were able to play select dates on this year's Warped Tour on the Shiragirl Stage, and are currently touring across Ontario. We definitely have plans for the future to tour more extensively across Canada and the States, and who knows? maybe Europe will pan out as well. We keep busy and are always working/thinking of new ideas and new places to go, so nothing is out of the realm of possibilities.
Is the American audience as accepting with your music as the Canadian?
Definitely, if not more, in some cases. In many of the cities that we travelled to, people were telling us that they had never seen a female fronted hard rock band before which totally baffled us - it was cool to think that we were their first however. I also think (at least from my experiences) that Americans tend to be a little bit more open-minded to new music and are willing to catch on new trends quicker before they've necessarily become mainstream phenomenons.
And how about in Canada, for all the Canadian fans, where will you be playing next in our country?
This Sat Aug 19th in Peterborough (Madoc) for an awareness raising and promotional event for women skateboarders!
What advice can you give to artists just starting out?
The most important piece of advice that I can offer artists is "You will never know if you never ask" - you'd be surprised of the opportunities and exposure that we have been granted just by continually asking the right people and making them aware of our presence. Bands are a dime a dozen, so what is going to make yours so special? In a word: Persistance. Sponsors, media exposure, great opening spots - all comes from just asking -- remember the worst they can say is no, but if you never ask, you'll never know what you could have had.
I know there can be ups and downs sometime, what gets you through the rocky times?
My friends, my family, our fans and playing live shows -- the music industry is definitely not a place for people who are faint of heart and if it weren't for our loyal and caring fans who come out to shows, and show up their support, none of it would be worth while.
Have you started working on a new album yet? Or do you have any other plans for the future that would be interesting for us to look out for?
Indeed we have -- we are looking to start recording in March so stayed tuned next summer for its release.
Good luck with everything. Good to see your expanding the Canadian music industry with your talent!
Thanks to Lucid Forge Magazine for their continued support and exposure! You guys rock!
