How did you get started in the music industry? I've been singing since I was 5. I've been in cover bands and have done commercial jingles throughout my career before anything major happened. I was on Star Search in 2003, and that was the start of my "giving up everything" to pursue the one heartfelt passion that I have in life, which is to perform. I moved to Nashville , recorded a demo and that's where EsNtion Silver found me and signed me to their label. |

Can you describe the sound of your music for readers who are not familiar with Danielle Bollinger? It's a little bit of pop, jazz, R&B, and country, added to the sounds of dance. I have been so versatile from doing cover bands and just liking so many types of music, that it all comes out in my songs. |
What has been the hardest thing for you to overcome in your music career so far?
There hasn't been anything too major that I've had to overcome so far, except learning to be patient. Everything takes time, and it's either really busy all the time, or you have some down time, and it's the down time that I have a hard time with. I like to stay busy, and I like to keep in the groove of things…
What (or who) were the major influences which pushed you to your own creativity?
The "what" of this question is from my own experiences. I really connected with all of the songs because of what I have gone through in the past and I feel that if I can sing about something that is real, then other people can experience them too. Madonna has always been a major influence as well because of how she worked so hard to get where she is, and I think that as an artist, if you work hard at it and don't quit then you'll appreciate it so much more. Plus, she has reinvented herself so many times, and wasn't afraid to try new angles with her music.
What is the audience your music is intended for?
It's for everyone!! I really and truly feel that if I have inspired, or connected with someone in some way, and if they have experienced what I have through the songs, then at the end of the day, my job has been done.
Why did you choose to put a "nearly naked" image on your CD? Do you feel it is important especially for girls, to feel comfortable with themselves?
I did that pose after about 8 hours into the photo shoot and decided that I wanted something a little more risqué. Since I am comfortable in my own skin, I went with it. It still leaves something to the imagination, and that's ok. I very much think it is important for girls to feel comfortable with themselves no matter what size they are. I have this conversation with my sisters who are 10 and 12 all the time because I don't want them to feel self conscious and I never want to hear the phrase , "I look fat". I think as long as you feel good about yourself no matter if you are a size 2 or a size 14, then that's all that matters. Beauty truly does come within, and if you have that than everyone else will see it too.
We know you have talent in music, but do you have other interests or hobbies that you enjoy in your spare time?
I enjoy running, and working out. I also hang out with my friends and my little sisters a lot when I'm in town, because it isn't always easy finding the time to do that. I also love sports, and I sing the National Anthem for Detroit teams like the Pistons and the Tigers.
What song/album do you feel has been the most successful or rewarding for yourself?
That is a tough question because I really feel like every song makes me feel rewarded in some way. If I had to choose one, it would have to be "When The Broken Hearted Love Again", because it was the first single to come off the album, and it had a great response. It was my coming out into the world of dance music song, and it touched a lot of people's lives. I felt very rewarded after hearing so many people saying how much that song meant to them, either because they were coming out of a bad situation or knew someone who had.
How do you think your music has evolved from the very beginning of your career?
Well, since I've gone through so many variations of music to find who I am and where I want to be musically, I think it has totally transformed my career. I still have all the other styles coming out in my voice, but I get to dance and sing to funky cool beats.
Where do you see yourself and your music in the near future?
You never know what you'll get out of me next. I try not to look too far in the future, but I do have goals. I enjoy the moment, and I enjoy living day to day and seeing how things evolve. I see myself being more of a key writer on the next albums to come, and also getting into more avenues of the entertainment industry altogether. But that's how I feel right now, there could definitely be more to that later…
