The weeks look at new releases on DVD and Blu-Ray for November 10th.
The Accidental Husband
Successful radio host Emma Lloyd (Uma Thurman) becomes the victim of a revenge prank gone wrong when she finds out that she is married to a man she’s never met – a firefighter named Patrick (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Colin Firth, Sam Shepard, and Justina Machado also star in this rom-com that didn’t really hit the radar in North America.

The box set includes several extras, such as audio commentary, a trivia game, deleted scenes, and an interview with Kevin Williamson, the show’s creator and the inspiration for main character Dawson Leary.
Doomsday 2012 With the blockbuster
2012 set to hit theatres this Friday, The History Channel found it fitting to remind everyone that they’ve “been there, done that.” The 60-minute documentary explores and provides insight on the origins of the Mayan prophecy and on the modern events that coincide with its predictions.
The Echo Another remake of an Asian horror film, this story follows an ex-con who, after trying to intervene in a domestic abuse situation, ends up getting cursed by something sinister in the old apartment building he resides in. The original is a 2004 Filipino film titled
Sigaw.
Father and Guns Jacques and Marc, father and son police officers, must find a way to get over their personal rift and work together in order to save the life of a fellow officer. Apparently, the results are très drôle. French-Canadian cop comedies seem to be the big ticket these days (ahem…
Bad Cop, Bon Cop).

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero – The Complete Series (Limited Edition Collector’s Set) T

G.I. Joe The Movie, which will be released next year.
The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard Jeremy Piven stars as Ben Selleck, a used-car dealer who resorts to hiring a team known as ‘The Goods’ to help him sell over 200 cars in three days. Naturally, madness ensues. Ving Rhames, Ed Helms, and James Brolin also take part in the zaniness.
In the Loop Tom Hollander and James Gandolfini take on the film spin-off of
The Thick of It, a satirical BBC television series about the British Government. In the movie, American politics take centre stage as officials and advisors of the US President and UK Prime Minister attempt to sway things their way in their opposing stances on the war in the Middle East.
Kings of Leon: Live at the O2 London, England The highly-popular Nashville rockers played to over 18,000 fans during their three sold-out performances at the O2 Arena in June 2009. The concert-DVD will feature performances of songs from all four of the band’s albums, including the chart-toppers “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody”.
Meat Loaf: Bat Out of Hell - The Original Tour This American rock musician-turned-actor is attempting to profit off of his past with the release of a live 1978 performance in Germany which originally aired on the television show Rockpalast. There you have it, die-hard Meat Loaf fans … wherever you are.
Monsters, Inc.
The adorable, award-winning 2001 Disney/Pixar film is being released on Blu-ray Hi Def and DisneyFile Digital copy. The edition will feature all of the original DVD’s extras and will hold additional games and a sneak-peek at the Monsters Inc. theme-park attraction soon to open in Tokyo Disneyland.
Saturday Night Live: The Best of Will Ferrell - Volume 3 SNL really hit the mark with these compilation DVDs. Sketches from funnyman Will Ferrell’s third greatest hits-collection will feature more of his hilarious impersonations of George W. Bush, Robert Goulet, Alex Trebek, and James Lipton will be included alongside some of his original characters (like the Spartan cheerleader Greg and a variety of uptight family men).
Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days Can you name your favourite muppet? Whoever it is, you can now relive some great childhood moments with the entire gang on this 2-disc release of highlights from the first 40 seasons of the much-loved show. Behind-the-scenes and archival footage can be accessed in the bonus features. By the way, don’t ask me to choose a favourite, I loved them all.
Spread Sex, money, and deception. That about covers the main points of this drama starring Ashton Kutcher and Anne Heche.
The Three Stooges Collection, Volume 7: 1952–1954 Sony Pictures has digitally remastered (several in widescreen format) 22 shorts starring the legendary trio, Moe, Larry, and Curly. This era in the comedy team’s history is most noted for the untimely death of Curly Howard in 1952, who was then replaced by his older brother Shemp to keep the franchise alive.
The Tudors: Season 3 This highly fictionalized account of the life of Henry VIII and the Tudor dynasty has been a huge hit since its debut in 2007. The third season follows Henry (who neither ages nor gains weight in the series) and his marriage to third wife Jane Seymour, his struggles against The Pilgrimage of Grace uprising, and his eventual reunion with his daughter Mary.
The Ugly Truth Overexposed actors Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler team up in this battle-of-the-sexes romantic comedy that ends exactly the way you think it will. If you’re interested, the Special Features will include alternate endings, deleted and extended scenes, filmmaker commentary, and a gag reel.
Up Yet another triumph from the masterminds of Pixar,
