This new addition to the Lucid cannon will be a weekly look at what’s coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray to a video store near you. Look for it from here on out every Tuesday on Lucid Forge.
Aliens in the Attic A boy and his family have to fight diminutive aliens on a mission to enslave humanity without letting their parents find out about it. A surprisingly fun family movie that adults can enjoy.
Don’t You Forget About Me This is a Canadian-made documentary about four filmmakers in search of 80s teen movie icon John Hughes. Along the way they talk to Hughes’ alums like Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson, Andrew McCarthy, Mia Sara and Kelly Lebrock, along with filmmakers influenced by Hughes like Kevin Smith and Jason Reitman. This is especially poignant given the filmmaker’s passing earlier this year.
Earth 2100 Picking up threads left by the creators of the History Channel’s

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
Stephen Sommers’ action-heavy and utterly non-ironic take on the Hasbro soldier toys makes its way to DVD a scant three months after its theatrical release. You’re probably going to want to spend the extra couple of bucks to get the two-disc-plus-digital copy set just to get your money’s worth.
I Love You, Beth Cooper The nerdiest nerd in high school gets a chance with the hottest girl after he brazenly declares his love for her during his valedictorian speech. Perfectly satisfactory, but it’s hard to believe that Chris Columbus left Harry Potter to do stuff like this.
Lemon Tree
The Palestinian/Israeli divide is reduced to a widow trying to protect her family’s lemon tree from being torn down as a security risk to her new neighbour, the Israeli Defense Minister. A touching and beautifully made film that brings a big issue down to sea level for a mass audience.

Star Wars.”
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 Denzel Washington stars as a frazzled subway dispatcher matching wits against subway hostage taker Ryder, played by John Travolta. It’s a well-made and sufficiently tense thriller from the Tony Scott.
