It’s “the bigger, the better” for David Byrne; The Skywalker symphony

Talking Heads singer-songwriter David Byrne’s new art installation has people intrigued. A musical piece of sorts, Byrne will transform London’s Roundhouse into a huge musical instrument. A large organ will be constructed with wires from the keys connecting to various areas and structures of the 160-year-old music venue, creating an assortment of sounds. For example, the walls will be used as drums and the metal pipes used as flutes. The project, called
Playing the Building, will be open to the public throughout the month of August where people of all ages will get a chance to play (perhaps) the world’s largest instrument.
For all the hardcore fans of
Star Wars who have been waiting for a new way to experience the epic series, Lucasfilm Ltd. presents
Star Wars: In Concert. Beginning in October, a full orchestra and choir will perform John Williams’s awarding winning score in synchronicity with images from the all six films. The 2-hour multimedia show, created specifically to delve deep into the soundtrack and themes of the films and narrated by Anthony Daniels (the voice of C3PO), will be accompanied by an exhibit of memorabilia and special behind-the-scenes footage. The tour will being in Anaheim, California and travel to select cities in the U.S.
More prequels, sequels, and remakes … there’s just no stopping it. After the release of the Peter Jackson’s rehashed
King Kong left an opening for a second film, people weren’t surprised to hear that a new movie is, indeed, currently

under development. A prequel this time around,
Kong: King of Skull Island will chronicle the events that led the giant gorilla’s rise to power. The film will be adapted from the book of the same name written by Joe Devito and Brad Strickland in 2004. Do enough people really want to see the intricate details behind why a group of deranged natives decided to make a giant animal their king? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
Despite the fact that most of the main characters died or are assumed to have died, Frank Miller is – somehow – working on a sequel to highly-successful 2006 film
300. Of course, Miller and director Zack Snyder are being very mum about the details, which is no shocker. I wouldn’t be surprised if the two are currently scratching their heads raw trying to work this one out. Fans of the first film have already jammed forums with speculation on possible plots – there’s your plan B, boys.
The burned and disfigured face of Freddy Kruger will be returning to grace the big screen very soon. However, the infamous face will not be so familiar this time around. Robert Englund, who has portrayed the devilish villain many times, will be replaced by Jackie Earle Haley in 2010’s
A Nightmare on Elm Street as part of the rebooted franchise. Haley is a character actor who has starred in
Little Children,
Watchmen, and the original
The Bad News Bears. Once again, Hollywood proves that new ideas are few and far between.
