Marvel gives us the Black Pantheress? The future looks not so good for the current King of Wakanda, as Marvel unveiled a piece of art working tying into the relaunch of Black Panther in February, now featuring a female in the costume. "Over the course of 40 issues [over three years], we ... really defined the character in a way that hadn't been done before,” said series’ writer Reginald Hudlin, in the Washington Post. “Having done that, you go: ‘How do we up the stakes?’ Marvel is great about doing really shocking changes to their character -- they don't believe in just keeping everything as status quo." The fate of current Black Panther T’Challa is not yet known. Palin gets comic too Alaskan Governor and Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin will star in her own biographical comic book from Bluewater Productions following one based on Senator Hillary Clinton published by the same company. "Regardless of your opinion, Governor Palin is a phenomenon. Her historic nomination has helped shape the national debate of arguably the most important presidential election in over 75 years," said Bluewater president Darren Davis. "No matter what happens in this election, people will still be talking about Sarah Palin, she is indeed a female force!" It’s been a very political couple of months in comics; Presidential nominees Barack Obama and John McCain both had biographical comics made about them and Savage Dragon sold out three runs of an issue where the hero endorses Democrat Obama. | |
Jones apologizes for Crisis delays Solicitations for January show that J.G. Jones will not be the artist on the seventh and final issue of
Final Crisis and has instead been replaced by Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy from the FC tie-in,
Superman Beyond. Jones told
Comic Book Resources that though he’d prefer not to comment on the problems with the series, he offered that “Any problems completing the series are my own. I love Doug Mahnke’s art, and he would have probably been a better choice to draw this series in the first place.” This week’s
Final Crisis #4 features the assistance of Carlos Pacheco on the art duties; the first that Jones didn’t complete solo.
